Mentoring After School Program

181 Elementary Children Served in 2022

Mentoring After School (MAS) assists elementary school students throughout the school year. Students meet in a group setting and are matched with an approved teen or adult volunteer who spends 1 hour per week with the child providing help with reading, homework, and positive social norms that will encourage them be more successful in school.

Program results show that 77% of the children enrolled finished the school year reading at grade level, compared to only 39.5% at the start of the year. Equally important, 100% of them passed their grade level, and their average improvement was 5 reading levels. MAS children are more likely to do well in school and graduate, thus contributing to increased graduation rates in our school system and a stronger community overall.

You can volunteer for MAS by clicking here. Details on the requirements for volunteers can be found below. If you have additional questions about MAS, please contact us by email at info@mentormenorthga.org or by calling (678) 341-8028.
